Tablescape-Thursday - Red Roses everywhere

In the garden, the roses start to bloom. This climbing rose is called "Gruß an Heidelberg" which means "salute to Heidelberg". It is only semi-double and not fragrant. But it blooms in profusion and the color glows actually.

It will adorn my table today.

Im Garten beginnen die Rosen zu blühen. Diese Kletterrose heißt "Gruß an Heidelberg". Sie ist nur halbgefüllt und duftet nicht. Dafür blüht sie in verschwenderischer Fülle und ihre Farbe leuchtet geradezu.

Sie wird heute meinen Tisch schmücken.

I own a silber-plated basket with glass-insert. The silver is almost pretty worn, but as a flower stand, it is excellent. I have combined the flowers of the climbing rose with wild roses and columbines, and as a special decoration I have added some small pieces of cutlery out of my collection, so you can see only the silver handles.

Ich habe ein versilbertes Metallkörbchen mit Glaseinsatz. Die Versilberung ist schon ziemlich abgenutzt, aber als Blumengefäß eignet es sich hervorragend. Hier habe ich die Blüten der Kletterrose mit Heckenrosen und Akeleien kombiniert und als besondere Verzierung habe ich noch kleine Besteckteile meiner Sammlung dazugesteckt, so dass man nur die silbernen Griffe sieht.

In addition I have set on a soft green tablecloth the already known basic elements (crystal, flatware and white porcelain), which are now supplemented by parts of my Meissen tea set. Silver-plated salt and pepper shakers in the form of birds pair always fit well with flowers.

Dazu habe ich auf einer zart grünen Tischdecke die bekannten Basiselemente (Kristall, Besteck und weißes Porzellan) gedeckt, die heute durch Teile meines Meissner Teeservices ergänzt werden. Versilberte Salz- und Pfefferstreuer in Form eines Vogelpärchens passen immer gut zu Blumen.

This tea set is handpainted with the pattern "Red Rose with forget-me-not" and I use today, the cake plate as a salad plate and saucer as a bread plate. To the bread plate I have now covered a small silver-plated knife (model series 3600), that once was made by the Silberwarenmanufatur Christoph Widmann, Pforzheim.

Dieses Teeservice ist mit dem Muster "Rote Rose mit Vergißmeinnicht" handbemalt und ich benutze heute die Kuchenteller als Salatteller und die Untertassen als Brotteller. Zum Brotteller habe ich heute ein kleines versilbertes Messer (Modellserie 3600) gedeckt, dass einmal von der Silberwarenmanufatur Christoph Widmann in Pforzheim hergestellt wurde.

If you look at the pattern closely, you will realize how detailed these flowers were painted. This painting has been burned to the glaze, ie they must be washed by hand in order to obtain the luminosity of the colors. About porcelainpainting and the manufacturer Meissen I will shortly bring a separate report.

Wenn man sich das Muster aus der Nähe anschaut, sieht man erst, wie detailliert diese Blumen gemalt wurden. Diese Malerei ist auf die Glasur gebrannt worden, d.h. sie muss mit der Hand gespült werden, um die Leuchtkraft der Farben zu erhalten. Über die Porzellanalerei und die Manufaktur Meissen werde ich demnächst einen gesonderten Bericht bringen.
