Silver-Sunday / Salt & Pepper Birds + ADDITION

Beth from Gypsy Fish Journal is the Hostess of Silver-Sunday. She and the participants of this Event present every second Sunday in the Month something of their silver.My participation is this time very small because tomorrow is Mother's Day. And that means a lot of work for me. My Mother in Law and all the family will come for a nice lunch.

What I want to show you is this salt & pepper set. I won it once on ebay and it came all the way from USA to Germany to me. It is silver plate but is so cute. The little birds sit on a blooming twig.

Mein Beitrag ist diesmal sehr klein, denn morgen ist Muttertag. Und das bedeutet viel Arbeit für mich. Meine Schwiegermutter und die ganze Familie wird für ein schönes Mittagessen zu kommen.

Was will ich euch zeigen will, ist dieses Salz & Pfeffer Set. Ich habe es einst auf ebay ersteigert und es kam den ganzen Weg von USA nach Deutschland zu mir. Es ist versilbert, aber ist so niedlich. Die kleinen Vögel sitzen auf einem blühenden Zweig.

In fact, I own two of these sets. On the picture you can see right the first purchased set. It was in poor condition and is not worth to get again silver plated.

The floral decoration on the branch is different.

Tatsächlich besitze ich zwei dieser Sets. Auf dem Bild sieht man rechts das zuerst gekaufte Set. Es war in schlechtem Zustand. Eine Neuversilberung lohnt sich nicht.
Die Blumendekoration am Zweig ist unterschiedlich.

On the following screen you can see the bottom. The left set looks younger than the right set.

The left set is stamped with the wording: "Pat applied for". It also bears the model number 121 and the makers mark of the company "The Weidlich Bros.MFG.Co." (From "Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers", Dorothy Rainwater, Page 271: Founded in 1901 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Specialized in sterling and plated trophies. Went into voluntary dissolution in 1950).

Auf diesem Bild sieht man die Unterseite. Das linke Set sieht jünger aus als das rechte Set.

Das linke Set ist gestempelt mit dem Wortlaut: "Pat. applied for" = Patent angemeldet). Zusätzlich trägt es die Modellnummer 121 und die Firmenmarke der Fa. "The Weidlich Bros.MFG.Co.". (Aus: "Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers", Dorothy Rainwater, Seite 271: Gegründet 1901 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Spezialisiert in Sterling und versilberten Trophäen. Ging in freiwillige Auflösung in 1950.)

This type of birdies I have followed for quite a while in the U.S. ebay. There are a number of different models and I have even found some made of porcelain.

Diese Vögelchen habe ich eine ganze Weile im amerikanischen ebay verfolgt. Es gibt eine ganze Reihe verschiedener Modelle und ich habe sie sogar in Porzellan gefunden.
